There is a housing crisis in Groningen! Lots of international students are coming here to study, but find they have nowhere to stay. The university is not taking enough precautions so we all together have to find a solution. This is why we have started a couch surfing initiative. These are people from Groningen helping homeless students out of solidarity.

Presentation of the demands: 12 december 16.00 Ubbo Emmiusstraat 30 (link in bio) Dear students and hosts. Because the situation is better now, we are not hosting anymore. We want to thank all the hosts who participated. And we want to wish luck to any students who still haven't found a place. The battle is not over yet! We just did a banner drop at the opening of the academic year! We also gave out flyers to everyone present. The problem isn't solved yet, so we'll keep going! Come to the activism intro fair in Groningen! The 10th of september at 15.00 in the Noorderplantsoen you can get the opportunity to get some food and get to know the activist community in the city. SOS will most likely start matching again on September first (2022-09-01) and we need hosts for that! So please sign up on our website (link in bio). Together we can make sure no students sleep on the streets! ✊ Shelter Our Students is back! Check out this incredible documentary about the housingcrisis in Groningen among international students. You can watch it for free on YouTube (link in bio) and it is half an hour. Shelter Our Students is also in it and it really highlights the problems we are trying to solve. Willy from Refuse The Rent Raise will be speaking and we'll discuss how to go further with Woonstrijd. Woonstrijd is co-organized by Shelter Our Students. Hopefully we'll see you there! We got a 1000 euros @alertfund_foryouth because they deemed us Most Valuable Protest (MVP). The money is being used to pay for all the materials used for promotion, the occupation, etc. All the left over money has been used for the budget for @woonstrijd which we helped organise. We didn't request this money, they gave it to us on their own volition. We are really grateful!
